Lunch Order Form: Here it is!! – the menu and order form reflecting new lunch offerings. The attached order form is due next Monday, APRIL 26 by 4:00pm – we are unable to accept late lunch orders. This new vendor WILL NOT replace the excellent vendors (Rubio’s, Subway, Panda Express and Oggi’s) that we are currently using, we know your students are fond of their menus.  This will be in addition to the program we offer currently.  Please encourage your students to try them so we are able to have feedback to make an informed decision for next year.  It will be important to turn your orders in on time and to keep your portion of the form since this is different than what we have been doing.  Also, if you would like to help by volunteering to serve lunches between 10am and 1pm any day of the week, please contact Lori Soich at lsoich@q.com.

Spring Sidewalk Uniform Sale: As we did in the fall, we are once again going to be collecting and re-selling used uniform items.  You will receive a credit voucher for turning in reusable uniform items.  Uniform turn-in dates are April 29 & 30 after school.  The sale will be held the following week on Thursday, May 6th and Friday May 7th  starting at 3:30 p.m.  See the attached flyer for more details.  There will also be Booster Items for sale – check out some new items such as book bags, messenger bags, aprons, and short sleeve logo shirts.

Used Book Sale: Be part of Glendale Prep’s first Used Book sale which will be held on Thursday, May 6th and Friday May 7th starting at 3:30. Donations can be made to the front office – please mark them “Used Book sale” or you can place them in a bag or box at the base of the Book sale sign in the drop off/pick up line.  This is not for school textbooks, but rather other books that have been long collecting dust on your shelves.

Yearbooks: If you haven’t already ordered your 2009-2010 yearbook, there are still a few copies available.  Just fill out an order form in the front office and turn it in with a check or cash for $35.00 per book into the PO Box in the Main Office in the “All Other Form” slot.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Watch for flyers being sent home with your students in the next week regarding Teacher Appreciation Week (First week in May).  There will be several opportunities for your students to express their appreciation for our great staff at Glendale Prep in a very creative and organized way.

Scrip Orders and Box Tops: Don’t forget to turn in those box tops you have been cutting out.  It is amazing how quickly they add up.  Also, if you would like to order some gift cards now is the time – there are blank scrip order forms in the front office.

PO Executive Committee: If you are interested in joining the Parent Organization Executive Committee at Glendale Prep please copy the attached form, indicate which position you would like to nominate yourself for and place in the PO Box “All Other Forms” slot.  Each position has a short job description.  If you have questions please feel free to contact Kendra Gould at 602-999-6523.

From the School…

AIMS:
Next Monday – Thursday, we will be administering the AIMS & Stanford 10 tests.  Normal school hours, 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., will still be in effect on testing days.  Testing will take place from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. each day.  After the testing, students will attend each of their classes for a shortened period of time.

It is very important that students attend school each of these days.  In addition, students should:

  • Get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast before each testing day.
  • Bring two sharpened # 2 pencils and a handheld pencil sharpener if they have one.
  • Bring a good book to read in case they finish their tests early (not a magazine or a “pop culture” read).
  • Bring a snack as their lunch time will be later than usual.
  • Go to their Period 1 class, no later than 8:25 AM on all testing days.

Math Lab: In order to provide our students with more academic support in mathematics, our math teachers have bonded together to form a “Math Lab.”  The Math Lab is a tutoring center located in rooms 15 & 16 and is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 – 8:30 a.m.  Students from all grade levels are encouraged to come to receive help and guidance from their own or other Glendale Prep teachers.   We look forward to helping our students finish strong in mathematics!

US Service Academies Conference: On Saturday, April 17, 2010 the US Service Academies Conference is being hosted by Senator Jon Kyl and Congressman John Shadegg at the Scottsdale Christian Academy, Phoenix. This is a non-political event and representatives from the Air Force, Army, Naval, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academies will be at the conference to describe the military, academic and career opportunities they offer. Congressional staff will also be there to explain the application and nomination process. All high school students, regardless of age, are welcome and will find the conference helpful in pursuing a nomination to a United States Service Academy.

Please see the attached document for more information and contact Veronica Dahmer or Craig Wismer with questions.

Legacy Gift Program:
At the Griffin Games, Mr. Jeff Van Brunt, the Chief Development Officer for Great Hearts Academies, spoke alongside Mr. Williams in greater detail about our Legacy Gift program.  As you recall from previous communications, we have asked all of our families to consider contributing to our Legacy Gift Program, which is a set of sponsorship opportunities to help pay for the new classrooms, offices, and areas we added to our campus last year.  At the Griffin Games, several families made a commitment to the program.  We want to thank these initial families and challenge our remaining families to join them.  We still have many sponsorship opportunites that we need to fulfill this school year. Please see the updated map for the remaining opportunities at http://www.glendaleprep.org/downloads/GP Legacy Gift Program.pdf and turn in a Sponsorship Commitment form to the main office today.  The Commitment form is the second page of the document found at the previous link.  Additional copies are also available in the main office.  We appreciate your partnership.
