From the school…

Student Withdrawal: As we prepare for the end of the 2009-2010 school year, we would like to remind you of the required procedure should your child not be returning to Glendale Prep next year.  If you are planning on having your children attend a different school next year, you must complete a Withdrawal Form this Friday, May 28th (the last day of school) in the front office of the school.  We need to have a withdrawal form on hand in order to provide the necessary paperwork, e.g. transcripts, to your children’s new schools.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to have you fill out a Withdrawal Form before May 28th if your child is finishing this school year with us. If you have any questions please contact the front office at 623-889-0822.

Textbook Return: Students will be turning in their GP-issued textbooks after each final exam next week (Tuesday, May 25 – Thursday, May 27).  Teachers will be assessing the condition of the returned books and submitting this information to the administration to determine the amount of credit owed to each family.  Credit owed will be determined based on the book’s returned condition in comparison to its issued condition.  Please see your Textbook Deposit receipt that you received at the Bookstore at the beginning of the year for more information or contact the office with any questions.

Families have three options in terms of processing their credit:

  1. Roll their credit over to next year’s textbook deposit
  2. Receive a check for the credit owed for their returned books
  3. Donate their credit to the school

If you would like to receive a check (option 2) or donate the credit to the school (option 3), please inform Mrs. Asuncion no later than 12:30 p.m. this Thursday (5/27) by phone (623-889-0822) or email (lasuncion@glendaleprep.org). Each family’s credit will be rolled over to their textbook deposit for next year unless requested otherwise by May 27.

Awards Ceremony & 8th Grade Promotion: We would like to invite all of our students and families to our closing assembly this Friday, May 28 to celebrate our students’ accomplishments this year and our 8th graders’ promotion into 9th grade.  Due to space limitations in our facility, we will be holding two separate assemblies again this year.  The first assembly will be for 6th and 7th grade students and their families at 6:00 p.m. and the second assembly will be for 8th through 10th grade students and their families at 7:00 p.m. Both assemblies will be held in the Sanctuary on campus.

To Note:
1.     Awards – We will be honoring students with three types of awards again this year: the Griffin Award (for Athletics), the Sapientia Award (for Academics, awarded in each subject), and the Animus Magnus Award (for Character).

  1. Student Dress Code – The school’s semi-formal dress code will be in effect for the evening:

Ladies: Young ladies are to be in modest-length skirts or dresses (no shorter than the uniform skirt) and dress shoes.  Bare midriffs are not acceptable; ladies may not wear strapless, spaghetti-strap, or tank tops.
Men: Young men are to be in dress slacks (no jeans or patched pocket pants), a dress shirt, tie, dress socks, and dress shoes.

Spirit Day:
On the last day of school, this Friday, May 28, we will be holding a “Spirit Shirt Day” to celebrate all of the wonderful events, programs, and athletics from this year.   In lieu of their uniforms, students may wear a purchased Glendale Prep T-shirt and jeans.

Next Year’s Books: We are close to finalizing our textbook and “Classics to Keep” booklists for each grade for the 2010-2011 school year.  Our projected date for opening our online bookstore (through ESCO) and posting the booklists online (with ISBNs) is June 15.  Check our website, www.glendaleprep.org, for more information at this time.

Legacy Gift Program: Don’t let summer arrive without making your commitment to support GP. More information @ http://www.glendaleprep.org/downloads/GP Legacy Gift Program.pdf.
