EXAMPLE PSO Volunteer Opportunities to Join the Fun

• preferably a 7th grade parent, but not an 8th grade parent
• responsible for coordinating all efforts by committee members and the school

• coordinate with GP and organize distribution of the curriculum (textbooks) at the beginning of the year
• coordinate end of the year book return

• research items to sell to the general school community to boost school spirit while providing commonly needed items
• present at the PO meetings for approval
• recruit volunteers to sell booster items various events
• create and distribute flyers and order forms for booster items

• organize monthly restaurant night open to the school community.
• follow up with each restaurant prior to our reserved date to confirm and organize details.

*  The restaurant will give the school a percentage of their proceeds on the designated night.

• present ideas to PSO for approval of name, theme, and activities of the spring games
• oversee and appoint volunteers to head subcommittees
• meet with subcommittee heads to beginning in November to organize event
• meet with Headmaster to obtain administrative approval

• coordinate volunteers to provide refreshments and serve after GP Concerts, Curriculum Night, New Parent Welcome, End of Year Awards Ceremony and Sports Award Ceremonies. Includes set up and clean up.

• coordinate hot lunch program with My Hot Lunchbox
• recruit volunteers to serve lunches
• responsible for keeping cold water bottles on hand to serve with lunch
• coordinate snack/donut sales

• gather and organize directory forms collected at the Bookstore
• solicit advertisers for directory

• organize a list of retailers who provide gift certificates with a percentage of the price returned to the school
• collect order forms and place orders.
• coordinate frequent shopper cards to receive a return on purchases made
• coordinate Box Tops program

• coordinate this tool that the PO uses to provide monetary gifts to teachers and staff in December in lieu of individual student gifts
• send letters to GP families in November with an explanation of the
• send reminder flyer home with the students one week prior to the deadline

• schedule socials which are fun and develop a sense of community – not fundraising
• investigate ideas and arrange the printing of tickets, flyers and posters for all events
• recruit committee members
• typical events include Beginning of Year (Griffin Greet), Game Night and End of Year Pizza and Yearbook Signing (Griffin Goodbye). If the social requires PO monies up front or any financial risk the committee must get approval prior to the event from the PO.

• provide lunches for teachers during finals weeks as well as treats once a month
• provide gifts and treats for the Headmaster on Principal’s Day in November and administrative assistants in April.
• coordinate National Teacher Appreciation Week (May)
• maintain snacks and beverages in the teachers lounge, to be done on a donation basis

• coordinate program where used uniforms are donated to the school,organized by size and gender and then offered either for credit (given to those who donated) or for monetary exchange

• maintain accurate and up to date website for the PO including calendar of events
• work closely with the Communications committee to make sure that all information is correct and timely
